As the week comes to a close my actual writing output has been virtually nil. Well, that’s not quite true. I’ve written letters, lesson plans, numerous emails and a variety of newsletters but to me that’s not real writing. Real writing is short stories, an article or adding to the word count of a novel. All the other writing is the day to day admin that needs to be done but my heart aches to write the other stuff. Sometimes we just can’t do what we want to do – this week has been for stemming the tide of problems that cropped up before they get out of control and hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
Finding time to write is not the same as making the time to write. Making time is key. So next week top of my list will be writing that short story I made notes on and the remainder of chores will be next on this list. I may not get round to the ironing for a week of two but that won’t make me feel as frustrated as not writing does.
If you live in the Dorset area why not check out the Dorset Writers Network event, A Place to Write, on Saturday 11th May. A full day to write with no distractions. Bliss!
