Spring has sprung and time to look forward to next weekend (clocks forward) and the long, light evenings to come. Why not book something that you can look forward to, find some inspiration and help raise funds for Words for the Wounded ( You did get your entries in by March 11th didn’t you?) by checking out the new Words for the Wounded Literary Festival.
Founder Margaret Graham, author and all round whirlwind talks about How organizing a Literary Festival can be fun over on Frost Magazine and details for the festival are as follows:
Words for the Wounded are having a fundraisingLitFest day on 18th April 2015 from 10.00 – 5.00 at the lovely Downley Community Centre
(School Close, Downley, High Wycombe, HP13 5TR)
It’s the old village school and has been ‘done up’ beautifully. It still has echoes of the school architecture, but not the atmosphere. It’s always fun there – and forget school lunches, ours will be tasty, and there’s a glass of wine included.
Come and meet Katie Fforde, ‘Deliciously Addictive’ (Daily Express), top ten romantic author in conversation with successful Arrow saga writer, Margaret Graham, founder of Words for the Wounded.
Felicity Trew of the highly respected Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency will be with us all day, and is seeking to expand her list. Don’t miss this opportunity.
Midsomer Murders writers Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths will talk of their work.
Penny Deacon, crime writer (A kind of Puritan, A thankless Child – published by Crème de la Crime) will talk us through how to do ‘who dunnits’.
We will have a self-publishing question and answer panel including Amanda Hatter, local Indie Author of Callum and the Mousehole Ghost, Margaret Graham, who published Maeve’s Afternoon Delight as an Indie book and others.
The fee is £50 including lunch with a glass of wine and refreshments, with time for networking.
There will also be the opportunity to buy our speakers’ signed books.
For tickets: send a SAE to WforW, 12 Woodcote Green, Downley, High Wycombe, HP13 5UN, with a cheque or postal order for £50 made out to Words for the Wounded. You will receive your ticket by return. The tickets will be numbered and entered into a draw. The prizes? Books donated by Margaret’s publishers, Arrow.
We thank Frost Magazine for their publicity sponsorship.
Please be aware that ALL profits go to the recovery of the wounded at Combat Stress, Forces Support, and Tedworth House Recovery Centre.
